Swimmin', Sharks, and Turning Two!

We had a wonderful weekend celebrating the O'Bear (and Father's Day!)

I had the idea to start his real birthday, Friday, off right with a breakfast of champions including donuts and chocolate milk. I'm pretty sure it was a hit.

Our friends, Asher and Kathleen, then came over to help bake the birthday cake. It was a pretty involved recipe for a giant cake in the end. So Kat helped me in the kitchen and Asher helped entertain Owen. I think it worked out well for all involved. The cake was awesome!

Next, we headed over to Garland to meet up with my parents and Jenni and Jamie for some Flying Fish food. I think O might have had 3 bites of fish and 30 bites of french fries. What are you going to do...

The party went perfectly! O got dropped off at Nana's and slept til 4:30, while my mom, sister and I did some last minute things and set up the party downstairs at Nana's.

We swam, we ate, we laughed.

We got attacked by bubble guns, splashing babies, and splashing adults.

We opened, we played, we crashed.

I'd have to say it was a wonderful day. I can't believe how much O has changed over the last year.

At our doctor's appointment yesterday, his stats were:
Height: 36" - 88%
Weight: 31 lb - 83%
Head: Good ol' 93%

Still growing and growing. Talking up a storm. Taking risks. And being his awesome self!
Happy Birthday, O'Bear!

O's First Real Trick or Treat

I have to say, this Halloween thing is a blast...even with your own kids!

I love Halloween. I think it's a great holiday to dress up, eat fun sweats, laugh about the scary things in life and actually say hello to your neighbors. Think what you might, but that's what I THINK!

This year's Halloween fell on a Monday night. Lame! Especially since Daddy Joe has to go to class. Well, we did the pumpkin patch thing and we were given a puppy costume that I embelished a little and that was that. No high stress there. But I was totally bummed that Joe wouldn't be able to go trick or treat with us. So, I made plans for O and I to go trick or treat with Aunt Jenni and our friends the Harkins in there neighborhood in Frisco.

We headed over a little before 5pm in hopes to catch Joe before he went to class (also in Frisco), but we missed him. So we were bummed, but started getting dudded up anyways. Well guess what! Joe turned in his homework and told the teacher he'd be back in a bit (advantages of grad school!), and he found us to go trick or treating!

WE HAD A BLAST! Owen loved it. He and his more experienced buddy Austin headed up to each door (Owen even knocked a few times), held out his tiny hand for candy and dropped it in his bucket! Cutest kid on the planet!

I loved sharing this bit of fun with our boy and can't wait for next year!

Mom Find

I have been doing some typing work at home and earning some money, and with that money I decided to splurge a little on a Mom treat.

I've seen different shirts from this company for a while, and I figured, I'm a mom, I can wear one of those too! So, they had a sale, and I ordered my favorite color! Check it out, they have some good specials right now!

PeaceLoveMom was started by a couple of moms to celebrate this crazy journey we're all on together. And what better way to celebrate than with a t-shirt, right Baylor friends? Maybe you can find something fun too!

Also, I got a size bigger than I normally wear because they run small...and boy was that a good decision, but they are soft and long...so that makes up for the depressing size. Now, if they were really supporting moms, wouldn't they make them bigger and call them a size smaller? ;)

Busy Busy Beaver

Seems Owen is learning, doing or trying something new every day now!

This kid wants to grow up so fast sometimes, he can hardly keep up with himself.

On a recent Craig's List adventure, O and I found him a walker. Sometimes (like in the video) he is IN LOVE, and sometimes he finds it to be limiting, but I think it's a pretty entertaining buy for $15.

As of this past Saturday, Owen has also learned to clap. We LOVE to clap. We clap for Owen, we clap for food, we clap for puppy, we clap for joy. You get the idea! We clap! =)

Bluebonnets and Babies

Babies and bluebonnets...does it get better?

Well, yes, you can throw a cute red dog into the mix and some very adoring parents, and you get a schosh better.

But, really, all you need is a baby and bluebonnets.

A baby with magical blue eyes, soft wisps of blond hair...and there you have it, the perfect recipe to melt the heart of anyone who looks upon this concoction!

Oh, how we love this kiddo. More and more each day! It's crazy to see the little boy he's becoming. We've packed up the bouncy seat and baby swing about a month ago. We've switched him to his 'big boy' car seat a few weeks back. We've added real shoes to the mix, and we've admitted we really need to start baby proofing. But it's not for a baby, it's for this miracle that is growing and unfolding before our eyes. Baby, no, not really. But, baby forever you will be, right mamas?

Snow Baby!

Owen is getting to see quite a bit of extreme weather in his short little life! These last four days have been our coldest, snowiest, iciest that I can ever remember!

Enjoy it while you can kiddo, because I'm praying the hot stuff comes back soon!
